SAMBA MUSIC TO WATCH FOR….
"Baila Baila Conmigo" (Domino)
"Ai Se Eu Te Pego" (Michel Telo)--more of a cumbia/vallenato type of samba feel, so it is not the best modern samba for me.
"Balada Boa" (Gusttavo Lima)--not too much of a strong samba rhythm, but more of a merengue-type of samba, so it is not the best samba for me in this case
"Bon Chiki Bon" (Alessandro Olivato)--sort of a batucada-type samba, laid-back
"Chiqui Boom" (Batukada do Rio)--a great samba because of the music group's title
"Chupa Rico" (DJ Maksy)--DJ Maksy is known for remixing several great sambas. The
problem is that the introduction is a bit too long.
"Costoso" (Blue Angels)--this is a great modern samba for International samba practice as well as for competitions.
"El Africano" (King Africa)--more of a "hustle" type of samba, but it is good. The problem is that sometimes the percussion drops out for 4 measures occasionally.
"I'm No Superman" (Jeromino featuring Stay-C)--note: this samba is rather fast!!
"La Bomba" (King Africa)--the best of the modern sambas out there.
"Lo Lo Dzama" (Sum Svistu)--more of an African-type of samba styling
"Love Is In The Air" (arr. John Paul Young)--sounds like a hustle-disco type of samba; this samba was used in the movie soundtrack to "Strictly Ballroom"
"Mi Chica" (Sarbel)--more of a cumbia-style type of samba common with the songs of
Carlos Vives. There is also a bit of samba-flamenco in there too.
"Miduni Mudunam" (Arash)--more of a cha-cha/hustle than samba. Not really the best samba for me.
"Ole Ole" (Ole)--great samba with a samba-flamenco feel and a lot of techno, even though there are some long breaks.
"Quiero Bailar" (Meire)--great samba (although mainly a hustle-type of samba)
"Quimbara" (Lust 4 Latin 3, based on the original song by Celia Cruz)--Celia Cruz fans who have been salsa-clubbing and are falling in love with the samba-version of her famous salsa song will be very happy.
"Run The Show" (Kat Deluna)--a bit of samba-flamenco here…but a lot of techno too
"Samba Hey" (Bailador Latino)
"Shake Your Boom Boom" (DJ Sombrilla)--a pretty fun samba but the feel is good for a modern samba….
"Tequila" (David Hirschfelder and the Bota Pogo Orchestra)--a samba version of a famous rock-and-roll song. Quite well done. Also used in the movie soundtrack to "Strictly Ballroom."
"Yalla" (Arash)--more of a hustle type of a samba--still very good
