I was thinking of making videos for Expert Village.
I actually completed one of the scripts and I have my video camera. I just need some video capturing stuff to get it online.
Here is one of the scripts featuring one of my favorite salsa dance moves. I know that Expert Village videos are only as long as a ballroom dance competition heat....about 90 seconds. So this is probably going to last 90 seconds........
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The move: The Salsa Open Basic With Left Food Rondé
The Script:
Hello, my name is Charles Joseph Smith, I am called the "Little Lily of Salsa", and I am going to teach you one of my favorite advanced salsa shines...the Open Basic with Left Foot Rondé.
(I demonstrate the Open Basic in salsa at this point, back facing the camera.)
Like the Open Basic in Salsa, this shine is six steps featuring a forward and back basic...
(Now, I demonstrate the Open Basic with Left Foot Rondé in a slow motion, also with back facing the camera.)
...but on step 2, just as soon as the RF steps back, the LF "rondés", or makes a sweep action close to the ground in an outside-to-inside circle, this is for you people who don't know ballet...and the rondé ends with the left foot crossing behind RF...then the LF takes full weight and this is step 3. Hence, the rondé occurs between steps 2 and 3. Steps 4-6 of this shine will be as normal as your normal Open Basic...back RF, LF steps in place, and RF passes over LF. Notice that there is no closed footwork here in the six steps. Just make sure that during the rondé, the leg doing it is straight, or it won't create a pretty leg line.
Let me do it twice for you in slow motion...
1, 2, ready and go: Forward, back and sweeping the LF until it goes behind R.....LF step with weight, and then...second half of Open Salsa Basic. Again, Forward, back-and-rondé with L......LF step with weight, and be sure that RF crosses behind LF......and finally, second half of Open Salsa Basic.
Now, I am going to do it with salsa music, now quicker this time.
(Music starts).
1 2, ready and go....one-two rondé, step, back, in place, forward, one-two rondé, back, in place, forward.
(Music stops and I face front view of the camera.)
So, as you can see, this move is a very cool move for all of you good salsa leaders out there. It will be very lovely on the dance floor....the only caveat is that because of the vastness of the space in that figure...don't try it on a very crowded salsa dance floor. But when the opportunity calls for it, try that move...it will create some "shine" in your salsa.
(Fade out).
