This was my favorite line dance of my mother, Emma Smith, in the 1990s. I studied the dance in 2015 and I think I got the steps......
Start feet together on the first wall. This is a 4-wall dance with a total of 40 steps. Weight is on LF to begin.
A. NOW INTO THE BASIC FORM
- Forward RF and
- Forward and to the side LF (across RF) into split-weight position 1
- First circular hip circle (CCW), feet in place 2
- Second circular hip circle (CCW), feet in place 3
- Third circular hip circle (CCW), feet still in place 4
- Back RF and
- Back LF (across RF), still assuming split-weight position 5
- First circular hip circle (CCW), feet in place 6
- Second circular hip circle (CCW), feet in place 7
- Third circular hip circle (CCW), feet in place 8
- Turning body to ¼ L w/both feet pivoting ¼ L, do first knee pump with arms pointing to L 1
- Do second knee pump with arms pointing to L again, feet still in place 2
- Do third knee pump with arms pointing to L again, feet still in place 3
- Do fourth knee pump with arms pointing to L again, feet still in place 4
- Now turning body to ½ R w/both feet pivoting ½ R, do first knee pump with arms pointing to R 5
- Do second knee pump with arms pointing to R again, feet still in place 6
- Do third knee pump with arms pointing to R again, feet still in place 7
- Do fourth knee pump with arms pointing to R again, feet still in place 8
B. NOW INTO THE CHA-CHA STEP:
- Forward RF 1
- Rock back on LF in place 2
- Step RF in place 3
- Step LF in place and
- Step RF in place 4
- Forward LF 5
- Rock back on RF in place 6
- Step LF in place 7
- Step RF in place and
- Step LF in place 8
C.. NOW INTO THE TOUCH-STEPS TO THE ¼ TURN TO THE L (be sure you turn ¼ L at the end of no. 12)
- RF to side 1
- Tap LF to RF and
- LF to side 2
- Tap RF to LF and
- RF to side 1
- Tap LF to RF and
- LF to side 2
- Tap RF to LF and
- RF to side 1
- Tap LF to RF and
- LF to side 2
- Tap RF to LF and
