It's been a long time since I've been able to put a lot of work into TFF... So here's an update.
I have decided I am replacing the different materials with just one material, scrap metal. The different colors for the materials and then having different materials was just all too confusing and made it difficult to actually play the game. So I said "screw it", just make it one upgrade material and each level costs more of the material. Simple enough.
I keep flashing back to my first programming class at SPSU when I learned the acronym KSS, Keep it Simple Stupid. And that's what I intend to do, keep it simple. All the mechanics and new twists and spins I am trying to put on the game are making it more confusing and unplayable, so KSS.
I recently added in a side panel for selecting drones to upgrade, so even if you're on the other side of the galaxy you can still keep track of your drone's shields, health, and upgrades.
Another mechanic implemented was a time-slow mechanic for when the player moused over the upgrade panel or over the bottom HUD panel for transferring energy. It has been suggested that I instead make the game time stop completely... I am going to try it out and see how it goes
