About Me: My name is Melinda Lyle-Javier. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education & Hawaiian Studies from the University of Hawai’i-Manoa. I completed my Montessori Elementary Teacher Certification From Seacoast Montessori Training Center in Andover, Massachusetts. My Montessori Adolescent Teacher Training Certification is from NAMTA at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.
At the Montessori School of Maui I have taught first, second, and third grade. Then I settled into the middle school classroom. This is my eleventh year teaching middle school students, and I love it. They teach me about the current music trends and they also challenge me to continue to grow as a teacher.
I live on the island of Maui. My family, which includes two daughters and three granddaughters, are always busy with schoolwork and activities. The actives mainly consist of going to the beach. Leaving on an island offers many wonderful opportunities. One is being able to really know the families of the students that attend my school. We see each other at school, at the store and of course at the beach.
