Hey <name>,

As I mentioned to you earlier, I am planning to run <marathon name> on <date>. My marathon effort also has an aim of raising $2620 ($100 for every mile I run) towards the education of underprivileged children in India. I am sending you this e-mail because, first, I want to share my running experience with you and second to urge you to help me in my cause by donating generously.

I used to run about 1-1.5 miles when I started training and never imagined running a distance of more than 3 miles ever at a stretch. Seeing some of the training schedules on the internet, the goal of running 26.2 miles seemed difficult, but achievable! Slowly I built up the distance and gained confidence. In Sept 2010, I completed a long run of 22 miles. I now feel that 26.2 miles should be a piece of cake :)

A lot of the motivation to keep pushing myself for longer and longer distances came from running with the Team Asha. Asha for Education is a non-profit organization (www.ashanet.org) dedicated to catalyze socio-economic change in India through education of underprivileged children. One of the Asha supported project I can relate to is the <fill in a project name and location in India>.

<write a pargraph on why you identify with this project, and what it has done to help a child> <here’s an example – written by an ex runner>

<<<Recently major floods destroyed many homes in Valsad including that of Pramit Patel – a blind student at NAB. After the floods Pramit decided to leave school to help his family rebuild a home and reconciled with the fact that he will now have to lead the life of a farmer. But when Pramit’s family read a letter from one of Pramit’s sponsors in USA, they decided to send him back to school. Due to Asha’s efforts many children like Pramit have realized the value of education and have gone on to get law degrees and BA degrees in Economics.>>>>>

$2620 is my commitment to Asha to help educate more Pramits, and I hope that you will contribute generously to this worthy cause. 97% of your donation will go towards the cause and team Asha will strive to make it 100% this year; I'll cover all the travel and other marathon related expenses.

Thank you for taking out time to read this.
