Very approachable, made time for didactics, was efficient on rounds; incredibly knowledgeable
Excellent teaching- both bedside and more formal/sit-down didactic sessions.
One of my best attendings in all of residency
strong motivation to enhance learning opportunity in subspecialty rotation. hit high-yield and relevant topics for general med training
Dr. Dahhan is one of the best attendings that I have worked with at Duke. He is impressively knowledgeable about both MICU and General Medicine care and management issues. He is kind, gentle, and humanistic NOT only with patients and their families, but with residents, nurses, ancillary staff alike. Every day on rounds, he LISTENS patiently to each resident present and genuinely values their thought process and plan. He teaches informally and formally on rounds, coming up with a teaching point for nearly every case and then later in the day sends around a summary email with the learning points and some articles to support the learning points. It was an absolute honor and pleasure to work with Dr. Dahhan.
Lots of formal teaching that is evidence-based
top-notch teaching. getting residents involved. helping me to approach a patient's case with critical thinking. showing me ways to apply evidence-based medicine to clinical case
Dr. Dahhan is one of the best clinician educators I have worked with. Rounds with him are extremely educational. I learned something new everyday. He is also great at letting the senior residents lead the gen med team, and exemplifies the ideal balance of supervision and autonomy.
He is gifted as an educator--probably has done the best job of all attendings I have worked with thus far of incorporating evidence-based teaching on rounds. He even goes so far as to email the group after rounds with helpful articles and a summary of the teaching points on topics discussed that day. Inspired me to practice more evidence-based medicine.
wonderful teacher and team leader
Hands down one of the best attendings I have ever worked with. Unfortunately only got 1 week with him. Extremely outgoing, friendly and open to the team approach. Great medical knowledge combined with a practical approach and good bedside manner. Lets the resident make decisions and if he feels differently he is willing to have an open discussion. Very approachable. Also an amazing teacher who made sure to give direct teaching almost 30 minutes a day and send emails each day teaching us relevent topics and direct us to good resources for topics we had encountered. All the staff really enjoy working with him.
I really appreciated Dr. Dahhan's emphasis on teaching. His daily email synopses were super helpful, especially when I was post-call and not necessarily able to absorb the information as well when it was discussed
Excellent clinician. wonderful with patients.
Great teacher, very knowledgeable, provides detailed feedback.
excellent teaching on rounds anddidactics
Talal is one of the best attendings I've had at Duke. He does a great job of providing one clinical pearl for each patient, but keeps rounds moving. He is decisive and communicated well with families, especially when big picture decisions needed to be made. He gave us a lot of autonomy, but was always available to discuss management decisions. He was honest with me about whether he agreed with my judgment or not. I really enjoyed his daily emails with bullet points from rounds--helped reinforce and easy to spend 5 minutes going over it. Talal is also just fun to work with.
Dr. Dahhan is one of the most outstanding attendings I've worked with. Clinically incredibly thorough and thoughtful, a wonderful teacher, a great advocate for house staff, and allows us to have autonomy. Would be wonderful to have him as a gen med attending too! I would want him to take care of my family members.
Dr. Dahhan makes GREAT efforts to ensure the pulmonary rotation is an educational one. He reviews important concepts and makes the effort to follow up and send out articles every day. Greatly appreciated -- and a great asset to the program.
