I grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, my family roots are from Makkah, in the western region. I was fortunate to graduate from Manarat Alriyadh School, where I had elementary, middle and high school education. I graduated with honors and was valedictorian of my class. I then joined College of Medicine at King Saud University. I graduated with honors, and with an A GPA grade. That was the beginning for me to enjoy and taste medical education as well as healthcare leadership.
I was honored to join King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center for residency training in Internal Medicine. That lead to consolidation of training and solidification of thoughts to be a clinician educator and a leader. I was elected to be the Chief Resident, before I moved to the United Staes for Residency in Internal Medicine, followed by Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training at Duke University Hospital and Affiliated Centers. Throughout years of training, I grew up my passion in evaluation and management of patients with pulmonary vascular disease and Critical Care Medicine curricular design and medical education. Achieving a master degree in medical education was a great achievement that happened in August 2015, and I am hoping to achieve Masters in Healthcare Administration by December 2023. Both degrees are from the University of New England, in Maine.
I started to build my interest in healthcare administration and leadership by the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. I realized the need in me to help re-establish what was lost in the heatlhcare around the world. I started by testing myself if I would enjoy it or not. I have signed up and gained a certification in leadership and management by the year of 2020 from Yale University.
I am fortunate to be a faculty member at the Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease, to help patients with pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension. I am honored to be a clinician educator within the division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at Duke Medicine. I look forward to helping patients, learn and practice Critical Care Graduate Medical Education. This has further moved for me to be appointed as the program director of critical care medicine (IM) fellowship training program.

I am a father to a smart and a wonderful daughter, Rinal whose now in Smith College, and a beautiful girl, Eileen who just started elementary school. They are my life. I enjoy my free time with them.
