Raise Hands and Step Up
From Single Whip you are facing west with your left hand in front and your whip out to your side. Your weight is on the left side. You are going to face north and make an “accordion” movement with your arms. This is the whole move.
To do this, shift your weight to the right side and at the same time lifting your left heel. Put your left foot down at a 45% angle, or to the northwest. Bring your weight to this side. As you do this your hands open up. Now put your right heel in to the left a few inches, resting on the floor. Loosen your waist so that it sinks downward and back. As you sink, this is reflected in your upper body as an “accordion” move; where your two hands/arms come towards one another, with the left hand close to your chest, and your right hand out in front of you. The fingers and thumbs are open and up. Your weight is in a left back stance.
