This class is all about 'single whip"
Single Whip:
From Pushing Away, shift your center back over the centerline and turning the core left and at the same time turning your hands over so that your thumbs are pointed downward. Now sweep left in a counterclockwise circle letting your hands, shoulders and elbows follow your waist at the same time turning your right heel inward as far as you can move it. This part is “pressing left”.
Now shift your weight back across the centerline by turning the waist to the right by flexing (softening) the chest and ribs and by loosening the waist. ( this is ‘pressing right’)
Now from your waist (keeping your weight on the right side) form your whip with the right side. Next turn over the left hand so that it is facing your chest as you begin to 'hollow your chest'. And now step with your left foot directly west turning and shifting your weight to the left side. As your weight shifts, you “finish the move” by releasing the body 'through the spine' and have your left hand turn over to “gently strike” the opponent”.
Remember: Your movement goes from your mind’s intention to your soft (hollow) chest to your loosened waist to your feet and then back out up through your spine (and core) and out to your extremities as the move requires.
Remember: The Center (Core) moves the extremities, not the other way around.
