As I decided to move from SDM College, Honnavar to Colleges of Academy of General Education, the kind gesture of Dr. MP Karki and all the trust members of SDM College helped me achieve my objective. I also got the blessings of Dr. V. S Achar who gave a letter to Dr. M.P Karki to relieve me. Dr. H. Shantaram also helped me. But when the SDM College gave consent to relieve me from SDM College, the Government Penal was scheduled to meet within a week to select the faculty at the Academy of General Education. I was shocked to know that. In that situation, they cannot permit me to join the colleges of academy of General Education. Dr. Shantaram suggested to get special permission not to fill up one post, hence he advised me to get permission from the Government or the Director. Hence, I directly went to Bangalore, met the then Educational Minister and succeeded in getting a letter addressed to then Director of Collegiate Education, Ms. Salvidas, hence, I did not face any problem for my transfer to colleges coming under Academy of General Education. I sought a transfer of Vijaya College, Mulki as that college was near to my native place.
Hence on 26th May 1988, I was relieved at SDM College, Honnavar and joined for my duties at Vijaya College, Mulki on 27th May 1988. The environment at Mulki was different, the students were hardworking, more committed but mischiefs compared to Honnavar. Within a short time, I established myself an active faculty, the principal shouldered many responsibility to me such as Cultural Coordinator, NSS, and other student related work. Prof. Raghavendra Rao was the HOD at the Department of Commerce, the Commerce Department was vibrant with many known faculties like Prof. Manjunathayya, Prof. Paul Rodrigus, Prof. Govinda Bhat, Prof. Jayaranga, Prof. Menon, Prof. Narayan, Prof. Harish and others. Prof Raghavendra Rao used to treat us with a sense of humour, students appreciated the teachings of Jayaranga, his analysis, his attitude to life, later, I failed to understand why he succumbed to suicide and ended his life. I was put up in a small house rented by Muddu Bhandari in the old Post Office Road, the Muddu Bhandari is a very respected person of that area, got a respectable relationship with the mother of Muddu Bhandari and his children. The faculty at Vijaya College were nice human beings, I still remember many faculties – Dr. Jagadeesh, Late Dr. Adynadka Krishna Bhat, Dr. UN Mayya, Late Dr. Mohammed, Late Mr. Jayaram, Mr. Deekshith, Mr. Umesh Pai, Dr. Raghavendra, Late Prof. Raghav Bhat, Prof. Maben, Prof. Tantri, Prof. Raj, Prof. Kalkur, Prof SRR, Prof. Andrade, Prof. Ramachandra, Prof. MR. Balakrishna, Mr. Udupa of Office, Mr Kamath of Office, Mr. Ranga, Mr. Mohan Rao of Library, Mr. Vishwnath of Office, Mr. Chandrabanu of Computer Science Department, Mrs Yashoda of Sanskrit Department, Ms. Ansooya Karkera, Mr. Ramachandra, Prof. Baskaran Nambiyar, Mr. Shankar, Mr. Venkatesh Bhat, Mr. Arun Kumar of Chemistry Department, Dr. Aruna Kalkur, Mr. Ganapathi Bhat, Mr. Venktramana Bhat, Mr. Gurudeva, Ms Meenakshi, Ms. Saraswathi B, Late Ms . Sukalatha, Mr. Sham Bhat, Ms. Usharani and many other teaching and non-teaching fraternity.
Later in May 1988, I got married to Shreemathi, who was working at Kasturba Medical College as a faculty in Biostatistics. Hence, after the marriage, I started travelling to Udupi. I was travelling to Mulki. Later, due to the efforts of Dr. A Krishna Rao, I succeeded in getting transferred to MGM College, Udupi. Got relieved from Vijaya College, Mulki on 30th June 1993 and Joined MGM College, Udupi on 1st July 1993.
