MGM College, Udupi

I began my tenure at the Department of Commerce of MGM College, Udupi, in July 1993. MGM College is renowned as one of the finest educational institutions in Karnataka, and its distinctive atmosphere sets it apart. The students at MGM College display unwavering dedication, strong work ethic, and a commitment to achieving outstanding results. Upon joining the college, I had the privilege of being appointed as the NSS Officer, a role I found immensely fulfilling. During my time as NSS Officer, I had the opportunity to contribute significantly to numerous projects and initiatives. I was fortunate to receive guidance from Prof. Srinivas Upadhya, a respected colleague and former NSS Officer in the Department of Commerce. Prof. Upadhya played an instrumental role in mentoring me and providing invaluable assistance in all NSS activities. His active participation in the Annual Camps of NSS set a tradition that I strived to uphold.

As the Director of the B.Com Vocational Course, I was fortunate to have the support and collaboration of CA Ananthanarayana Pai and CA Sridhar Kamath. Their unwavering support enabled us to organize a wide array of impactful programs. As a result of our collective efforts, the B.Com Vocational Course at MGM College became highly sought-after in the region. The students excelled in various activities conducted under the course, showcasing their talent and potential. Please find below some snapshots of the activities organized by our students:

Throughout my tenure, with the backing of the Principals and the Management, I pursued higher education and professional development. I successfully completed my M.Phil, PhD, PGDHE, and MBA degrees during my time at MGM College. In recognition of my expertise and contributions to the field, I was appointed as a Research Guide at Manipal and other esteemed universities. I had the privilege of supervising and mentoring ten candidates who successfully completed their PhD under my guidance. Additionally, I mentored more than 25 candidates in completing their M.Phil courses.

I am grateful for the continuous support and encouragement I received from the Management, which enabled me to undertake and complete over five major research projects. These projects were sanctioned by renowned central agencies such as UGC, ICSSR, ICAI, DST, and DSIR. The Management's unwavering commitment to research and academic excellence created a conducive environment for fruitful collaborations and scholarly pursuits.

Overall, my tenure at MGM College has been enriching and rewarding. The vibrant academic environment, driven students, and supportive colleagues and management have nurtured my professional growth and enabled me to make significant contributions in various capacities.

Though I worked as an undergraduate faculty member, I worked as a faculty member of the Postgraduate Centre in terms of research, seminars, conferences, and workshops. Some of the proof of workshops, conferences, and symposiums are given below: 

I was also made a Coordinator of TQM Activities of the Government of Karnataka. As Coordinator, I have to organise many teaching-learning interventions and conduct workshops for the teachers. Prof. Sunny Tharappan and Dr. H. Shantaram, Administrative Officer of the Academy of General Education, guided me. With the active support of Sunny Tharappan, I coordinated a National Workshop on Improving the Quality of Teachers, and the details are given below. You may click below to see the photos.
