The Alumni News -- November 2007

Reports of Recent Meetings

The Annual Meeting was held on June 15, 2007 and had an attendance of sixty

three members. At the meeting members were given the financial reports of

the Association. Also, elections were held for six of the twelve positions on the

Board of Directors. Elected to these positions were: Raymond G. Vachon,

Richard Dion, Richard Tardiff, Raymond "Ham" Roy, "Cookie" Guilbeault,

and Marcel Martel. Robert Landry was also elected to fill one of three Trustee

positions. Landry's term will run for three-years.

At the July Board of Directors meeting, Chairman Roger Tremblay suspended

the rules of order to elect officers for the fiscal year 2007/2008. Roger Tremblay

was elected as Chairman of the Board. Rick Grenier was chosen as Vice-Chairman

and Mike Pendergrass was elected to be Secretary. Chairman Tremblay appointed

Marcel Roy to serve as Treasurer.

The Chairman welcomed the three new Board members, Dick Tardiff, Bob Belair

and Marcel Martel.

Also several Committee Chairmen were named at the July meeting. Appointed

were: Dick Dion: Inside & Hall Rentals; Dick Tardiff: Outside; Raymond Roy &

Mike Pendergrass: Newsletter; Mike Dion: Golf; and Bob Belair: Nominating.

Roger Tremblay and Marcel Roy will have interim responsibility for Bingo and

Pull-Tabs. The Board is still looking for a member of the Association to coordinate

the 50/50.

The primary aim of this Association shall be to promote the social welfare of

the youth of the area through the establishment and maintenance of athletic

programs. (Article II - Aim, from the Constitution & By-Laws of the St. Louis

Alumni Association, Incorporated)

Nearly $30,000 was raised and/or donated in the 2006-07 fiscal year for community

youth programs such as Little League, Girls' Softball and other youth sports programs.

Also benefitting from our Association are the St. James athletic program ($3000) and

Scholarships (raised from $500 to $750). All this is done through efforts of members

who volunteer to run our fund-raising events which are: Bingo, Pull-Tabs and the

Annual Golf Tournament, and the people who support these events.

As our membership gets older and smaller—our Annual Meeting attendance used to

be in the hundreds—we have to look for new ways to keep our mission strong. Many

of us know of children or have grandchildren who benefit from local youth programs

that are sponsored by the Association.

Sponsoring a membership ($10.00) for your sons and grandsons will keep the St.

Louis spirit working for our community's youth. How about sponsoring a new

member as a Christmas gift?
