Presenting the content is the part of the lesson that involves providing new information to students to help them achieve the objective. When you make a plan for presenting the content, you will select and sequence the activities to present the new knowledge or skills. This includes:
Teacher activities—provide new information through a lecture or multi-media presentation or use demonstrations, models, or examples to illustrate new concepts or procedures
Student activities—take notes, solve a problem with the teacher, or participate in a discussion or task
The activities should include effective instructional strategies to organize the information and to support students as they learn the knowledge and skills. Planning for this component also includes identifying grouping strategies to use during the lesson and selecting media.
Accommodations are changes to the way a student accesses instruction and demonstrates performance. When accommodations are incorporated into the presentation of lesson content or provided as part of an effective instructional strategy, they meet the needs of individual students and often the entire class benefits. Some accommodations may need to be provided on an individual basis.
