This is a catalogue of known Alien and Stellar creatures that can be found in and around human space. Due to the broadness of this subject this catalogue has been broken down into three categories. Stellar Creatures, Interstellar Species & Enigmatic/Mysterious.
This Category is dedicated to creatures that live and survive in space as well as being able to travel across the vast distances between stars.
Star Whales
The Star Whale is a large, docile creature that use great natural solar fins found on their sides to propel themselves across the stars, feeding off Space Sponge swarms. They normally travel in small family groups although lone Star Whales are not unheard of. They are the target of Duster Squid swarms and have developed a natural flak weapon, covering its hide are several carapace bulges which house bubbles of Helium 3, when threatened they can willingly detonate these pockets, sending shards of crystal hard bones flying out at high speeds. Although not hostile, if provoked these Frigate sized creatures could damage or even destroy smaller human crafts with their natural flak defences. They are a natural source of Helium 3 and impressively hard carapace but due to their rarity, hunting and killing these creatures are considered crimes by both the Exchange and the New Order.
Duster Squids
Roughly the size of a Rottweiler shuttle, these predatory creatures prey on Stellar Shoals or, if possible, will swarm Star Whales. Each Duster consists of a small squat body that is little-more than an eye and a wide jaw at the front and a series of orifice at the back to expel gases, giving it movement. Coming forward out of the body are six long hooked limbs used to catch and disable prey before consumption. Alone a Duster Squid is nothing more than a nuisance to a human vessel, normally choosing to avoid a confrontation. However swarms can be a real danger to frigate and smaller sized vessels, confusing them with Star Whales. Due to the dangers vessels are allowed to kill Dusters and in some systems their are standing bounties on them. To this date the largest swarm of Dusters ever recorded numbered in 78 individual creatures.
Space Sponge
Space Sponge are, individually, the smallest creatures on this list, although their swarms can easily cover hundreds of kilometres of space. A single Space Sponge is the size of a human thumb and appears to look like Terran Starfish with solar webbing between the limbs, allowing the Sponge Swarm to sail through space. They are consumed by both Star Whales and Stellar Shoals and in extremes Duster Squids will eat them. They apparently have a rubbery texture and taste of tomatoes.
Stellar Shoals
Stellar Shoals come in hundreds of different variations but are similar to the great Cod fish schools of Stratus Locus. Long and thin they 'swim' across space using Solar fins preying on any nutrients they come across. They are harmless to human shipping and are actually harvested as a food source in some subsectors.
This Category is dedicated to the known space fairing species and civilisations found in and around human space.
The Ssath
The Ssath are an advanced space faring civilisation located in the Listor Subsector and were even at war with humanity back in 2980. They are sightly more advanced that humanity in technology but are an empire in decline. Each Ssath looks similar to human although their skin has an almost plastic texture to it, making them look slightly doll like. The Ssath also posses an interesting ability to 'shape-shift' into any humanoid form, master of this art can mimic humans so successfully that even good friends can be fooled. Thankfully the Ssath are relatively peaceful to their human neighbours now, more concerned with events within their space than that of the young aliens.
The Hochog
The Hochog are a nomadic alien species found all across human space. Boarlike in appearance they stand taller on average than a human and tend to have greater muscle mass pound for pound. Hochog ships tend to be a great problem for human governments as some act a essential traders and rare wares merchants while others are merciless pirates and raiders preying on vulnerable vessels and bases. Meeting a Hochog is always a gamble, they might gut you on sight or sell you a shiny gun.

This Category is dedicated to the creates and species that so far have eluded contact or classification. The Exchange is interested in any new information about creatures found in this category.
Angels
Very little is known of these enigmatic travellers, rarely seen at all they tend to travel in groups of 1 to 2. They have a humanoid appearance and travel through space in full body suits with great 'angel' like wings rising from their backs, Giving origin to their names. They appear to be intelligent and have access to technology centuries more advanced than humanity although all attempts to communicate have been ignored. The only reported times that humans have come close to Angels have been when they have dropped out of Spike space nearby, apparently to the chagrin of the Angel themselves. Due to their mysterious origins and obvious superior technology all vessels are warned not to attempt hostile actions with an Angel.
