Feast of St. Blaise
Post date: 01-Feb-2014 19:48:36
Monday, February 3rd is the Feast of St Blaise.
Blessing of the throats will take place after the 10.00am Mass and after the 8.00.pm. Evening Devotions.
Since the eight century St. Blaise has been venerated as the patron of those who suffer from disease of the throat.
The blessing of St. Blaise is a sign of our faith in God's protection and love for us and for the sick.
Using two crossed and unlighted candles, blessed on the memorial of St. Blaise or on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, the minister blesses the throat of each person with the following prayer:
"Through the intercession of St. Blaise, may God preserve you from throat troubles and every other illness"
