Meeting in Minneapolis, Nov. 2020

Post date: Feb 14, 2020 12:48:03 AM

During our Interest Group meeting in Minneapolis, we will hold an open group discussion of two recent books in improvisation studies: Dana Gooley's Fantasies of Improvisation: Free Playing in Nineteenth-Century Music (OUP 2018) and Eric Lewis's Intents and Purposes: Philosophy and the Aesthetics of Improvisation (U Mich. Press 2019).

We are announcing this activity early so as to give interested attendees ample time to add them to "to-read" lists. Through this study-and-discussion activity, we hope to facilitate a lively and productive conversation among scholars with a variety of approaches to improvisation.

More details will follow closer to the meeting. Please feel free to write to Andrew or Gilad with any questions, comments, or concerns.

All best,

Andrew Goldman (UWO) and Gilad Rabinovitch (FSU)
