Personal Definition
Once the instructional technology has been developed, it is now time to utilize what has been created. Proper implementation is important to ensure all students have an understanding of how to use the instructional technology. Once the tool has been adopted, the students should be able to transfer what they learned from using the tool to other activities. It is important the technoloy tool follows the policies of the organization.
Technology in Education
Web 2.0 Tools Help Prepare Students for the 21st Century Workplace Paper
3.1.1- Identify key factors in selecting and using technologies appropriate for learning situations specified in the instructional design process.
The paper gives examples of how different Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, wikis, and social networking devices can help students learn how to communicate, collaborate, and use higher-order thinking skills in the workplace. The paper also explains how teachers can evaluate using technology by looking at how it is helping to create an authentic learning experience.
3.2.1- Identify strategies for the diffusion, adoption, and dissemination of innovations in learning communities.
Businesses want schools to prepare students with the proper skills needed to be successful in the workplace. The paper gives several examples of how businesses are partnering with schools to help teachers integrate technology into their classrooms. This paper also gives an example of three high school classrooms where the students are learning 21st century skills by connecting beyond the classroom with Web 2.0 tools.
3.3.2- Identify and apply techniques for integrating ECIT innovations in various learning contexts.
This paper explains how not only schools but businesses are using Web 2.0 tools. This has helped me as a business teacher learn ways I can be using Web 2.0 tools in my classroom to help prepare my students for the business world.

To make technology effective, teachers must evaluate how it helps improve the students’ learning experience. This paper explains how teachers should evaluate if the technology helps to provide an authentic learning experience for the student. If the students can see the relevance in using the technology, they are more likely to understand how it is helpful to them and to the assignment.

This paper gives several examples of how schools are different Web 2.0 tools to help students learn 21st century skills.

As a group, we discussed how teachers may use Google Tools in their classroom. Then we created our videos with the needs of the teachers in mind.

By using the Technology Integration Matrix, I was able to identify technologies that would be appropriate to help students learn more about the interview process. It allowed me to take what I was already doing and improve it to be more of an aid to the students’ learning.

Many different forms of technology was used to increase students understanding of the interview process. Students used different technology tools to present information, learn materials, and collaborate with each other.

Students help each other learn about how to prepare for an interview through collaboration with different technology tools. There are several opportunities for students to reflect on each other’s projects.

In this artifact, students learn about the interview process through guided practice, group work, and independent learning. Technology is used along the way to increase understanding.

In this artifact, the Gradual Release of Responsibility lesson structure was used to organize the lesson plans. The Technology Integration Matrix was also used to determine how well the technology being used aided in the students’ learning of the material.

As a part of our implementation plan, my group created ideas of how to successful implement 1-to-1 computers in our school setting. Timelines were given as to what needed to be done when as well as how to implement each activity.

Our group put much thought into our 1-to-1 implementation plan as to what the best process would be to implement a 1-to-1 program in a school system. As we created our plan, we reflected what would be the best way to include teachers, students, parents, and the community.
Instructional Design
Creating a Personal Learning Network Using iGoogle Lesson Plan
3.1.1- Identify key factors in selecting and using technologies appropriate for learning situations specified in the instructional learning process.
By doing a trial run of the unit with a small class, I will be able to find what technologies helped the students the most and what technologies helped them the least.
3.1.2- Use educational communications and instructional technology (ECIT) resources in a variety of learning contexts.
During this project, I used several technological resources that I learned how to use in classes taken the summer of 2010. The technologies used are Google Docs, iGoogle, delicious, Jing to create the handout, and RSS feeds.

By showing students the relevance of creating a Personal Learning Network by giving them examples of how to use their iGoogle webpage and delicious account, they will hopefully find ways to use these technologies in other classes in the school.

During this project, the students will evaluate what information is appropriate to add to their iGoogle page.

This project will be implemented if the students can find relevance in using their iGoogle webpage and delicious account. Throughout the project, there will be class discussions on how the students might use what they have learned.

A website was used to house all the information, a podcast was used to inform the students about the unit, a wiki was used for the students to record their research, and an iMovie was used to present their information.
3.3.1- Use appropriate instructional materials and strategies in various learning contexts.
During our unit, the students would have the opportunity to read articles or listen to videos and/or podcasts to learn about entrepreneurs.
3.4.3- Identify and apply copyright and fair use guidelines within practice.
Whenever I used a picture, I found it under the creative commons section of Flickr or Google Images. The link to the pictures was also put on the credits page of our website.

Creating a How-To Video Using Jing Unit Plan

Currently, our school is working on implementing Google Tools into our classroom. To help students feel more comfortable using these tools, I decided to use several of them in this project. Google Sites will be used for the platform of this class and will also be what the students use to upload their tutorials to. Google Forms will be used to survey the teachers about their technology needs. Students can also use the Google Chat feature to collaborate with each other. The screen capture software, Jing, will be used when the students create their tutorials because it is free and easy to use.
3.1.2- Use educational communications and instructional technology (ECIT) resources in a variety of learning contexts.
Google Sites will be the online classroom used for this class because it is being implemented in the school I teach at. The students will get more practice using it so when they create their own website for their tutorials, they should be familiar with how to use Google Sites. The survey sent to the teachers will be created using Google Forms. To create the tutorials, students will use Jing videos that can easily be uploaded to the Internet. To collaborate with each other, Google Chat and Gmail will be used by the students.

3.4.1- Identify and apply standards for the use of instructional technology.
The standards for the use of instructional technology that will be met in this lesson are from the Iowa Core Curriculum 21st Century Technology Skills standards. This project will help the students to demonstrate creative thinking using technology, use technology to communicate and work collaboratively, solve problems using appropriate technology tools and resources, and demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
3.4.5- Identify policies and regulations, which apply to utilization, application, and integration of distance delivery technologies. Previously in this class, students will have gone through a lesson about copyright laws and fair use regulations. When creating their tutorials, the students will have to make sure they abide by what they learned.
