2.0.3- Apply instructional design principles to select appropriate technological tools for the development of instructional and professional products.
When creating this lesson plan, the Technology Integration Matrix was used to determine how technology was currently being used and then to see examples of how I could change the use of technology to increase student learning.
2.0.4- Apply appropriate learning and psychological theories to the selection of appropriate technological tools and to the development of instructional and professional products.
I used the principles of the Universal Design of Learning to determine if I was including multiple ways students could access information, express what they had found, and become engaged in the material. By using these principles, I became aware of how I can better meet the needs of my diverse learners in my classroom.
2.0.6- Use the results of evaluation methods and techniques to revise and update instructional and professional products.
Throughout the lesson plans, I have several formative assessments to see how well the students understand the material about interviews. This will help me know if we can continue or if I need to revisit some information.
Print Technologies
2.1.1- Develop instructional and professional products using a variety of technological tools to produce text for communicating information.
Throughout the artifact, various technology tools are used to present information to the students. Students also are given a variety of choices to present their information to the class.
Instructional Design
Creating a Personal Learning Network Using iGoogle Lesson Plan
2.0.1- Select appropriate media to produce effective learning environments using technology resources.
The media used for this product include a handout with explanations and visuals of the steps, how-to videos about Personal Learning Networks, iGoogle, and delicious, a sample iGoogle page, and a Google Doc students will use to create a simple, collaborative Personal Learning Network with their classmates.
2.0.3- Apply instructional design principles to select appropriate technological tools for the development of instructional and professional products.
Each technological tool will help the students understand how to create a Personal Learning Network by either demonstrating how to or giving an example for the students. The students will be asked which technological tool was the most and least helpful in creating their Personal Learning Network.
2.0.5- Apply appropriate evaluation strategies and techniques for assessing effectiveness of instructional and professional products.
After completing the unit, the students will be asked to complete a short survey on whether they will continue to use their iGoogle webpage and delicious account. This will help me to see if this instruction is effective and if students see the relevance in it. If the students will use it, I will show it to teachers to see if they will have the students use their iGoogle page and delicious account to organize information in their classes.
2.0.6- Use the results of evaluation methods and techniques to revise and update instructional and professional products.
Each question on the student survey will help me to see what I need to do to make my instruction better. I will continue the parts of the instruction that they found helpful and look for other ways to instruct the part of the project they found were ineffective. If the students feel they will not use their iGoogle webpage or delicious account, I will find another way to save and organize their information from the Internet. Also, after the discussion with the teachers on how they would have their students use their iGoogle webpage and delicious account, I would incorporate the ideas into my instruction to make the steps more relevant to the students.
