How to start 12-mm borer

I read an interesting discussion on how to start increment borer

on ITRDBFOR mailing list.

In addition to "bore starter" and "belted screw-in starter", Smartborer

can be used to start increment borer (to make it engage with wood).

Firstly, you set the reaction bar in horizontal direction, then two or

three people can push the borer tip against the bark while the middle

person drives the borer clock wise. Compared to other methods, it

takes shorter time to start the borer.
