The Patfield family were neighbours of the Small family, so it is not surprising the there was an intermarriage between the families.
In the St Philips marriage register Richard Hill married by banns on 31st day of October 1820:
George Patfield & Sarah Small and John Small & Elizabeth Patfield.Â
It is noted firstly that George Patfield marked while Sarah Small, John Small and Elizabeth Patfield signed the register.
The witnesses were Patrick Troy and Charlotte Small. Charlotte Small was the wife of William Small (4) as they had married in MAy 1820.
The Sydney Gazette of Monday 27th October 1828 reports on the execution of Patrick Troy for forgery.
