SEVENTH AVENUE

----------- News -----------31-08-12 - BIG NEWS!! SAD NEWS!!Seventh Avenue is no more! Please read the email below and it will explain more...Hi, this will be the final Avenue newsletter. Why the final? Why, one thing is: I have left the band and another is:Seventh Avenue is not any longer in the way you know it. This is heavy news, I know. But let me explain. We haven’tparted badly. I just came clear with the knowing that I don’t have the same goals with the music as Herbie, Flo and Markus have.We discussed a lot about our music and about Seventh Avenue. It came out, that the name “Seventh Avenue” isassociated with white metal. And this is not wrong at all. But it is prejudicial to have commercial success, to be bookedfor „regular“ festivals and shows. Many people, and more important: many reviewers are not impartial if they knowabout our Christian background. That’s why there will be a new band which enters the music scene with a “cleanimage”. Of course, this doesn’t changes our attitude to the belief. The last sixteen years have been a good and an important period for me. And I regret almost nothing.Herbie, Flo and Markus will find a new drummer and keep on rocking under a new name.I thank you all for your loyalty to Seventh Avenue.Mike11-03-12No new news to report, but as soon as something happens I'll let you know!13-09-11News album should be out this year some time.

REVIEW
Only time will tell if it's better than Eternals, but at present it feels like it is! I started listening to it and didn't press the skip button once! And that is quite an amazing feat for an album over 70 minutes long with 15 different tracks! For those who haven't heard of SA before, both this album and Eternals are the best places to start.
Terium is a concept based album which basically goes for the story of Jesus coming down from heaven, but this time it has a Sci Fi slant on it. It's all done very well and Mike who wrote all the lyrics proves yet again that he's the man for the job. Herbie concentrates on the music side of it, and like Eternals shows us that he knows how to write some stonking tunes! It's my album of 2008! Nothing can seemingly stop the SA advance! Long may they reign!!!!My favourite song is incredibly tricky to decide, but at the moment it'll have to be either Futures Dawn or New Era, but when the songs are this good, I don't really care. Hey, they're all brilliant!(and it seems to me that SA are STILL the only band to continually improve with each album.)

REVIEW
My favourite album of 2004. Every track is a winner. The song writing has improved and the vocals of Herbie seem to work brilliantly. Guitars are impressive as always with some truly blistering solos inbetween the songs. Even though Between The Worlds was my favourite album of 2002, Eternals is a big improvement, as all the songs are memorable and catchy. Seventh Avenue are STILL the only band to improve with every album. I've seen many bands have great albums then poor albums, but none have improved every time. Seventh Avenue are the only one that has. There are some great hooks in this album, that'll keep the songs buzzing round your head for ages. My favourite song will probably have to be the last song "Domination Of Sin", but they are indeed all great songs.

REVIEW
My favourite album of 2002. Some of the tracks aren't to my style but others are super fast and awesome. Mike writes a number of the songs lyrics and the christian message is clearer now than it's every been. Yet again Seventh Avenue get better, faster and tighter.

REVIEW
Is it an EP? Yes, or No? I would say it is an EP as (on the release that I've got at least) there's only 7 tracks and 3 of those are the same track just done in a different style. Although of the 7 tracks only 3 of them are 'new' and one of those is a cover this still is a very enjoyable album. Goodbye, the title track has done in three different ways 'acoustic' 'piano' and 'radio' versions, all of which are different enough from one another to enjoy listening to them. My personal favourite would be the piano version. There is a longer version of Southgate on here (from the previous album) which is a mammoth 16 minutes long, which is great if you like that sort of thing!!! My favourite track is the cover 'Boat On The River' which has a great rhythm to it. Musically this album is very similar to their previous album Southgate, but I put it slightly ahead of that album as the songs have more staying power (for me, at least)

REVIEW
This album just feels epic. Seventh Avenue do really good speed metal, and Herbie's vocals have improved again on this album. The reason this album feels so big is the length of each song. With the expection of the instrumentals the shortest track is just under 5 minutes long! Everything seems to be better than 'Tale Of Tales', including the writing skills.

The first Seventh Avenue album to have a fantasy feel to it. Another good speed metal album, not as intense as some of their other albums but a worthy edition to my collection. There's a great cover of 'Sailing' on here.

Haven't heard this album, so can't really give it a mark, but as all the songs are on Rainbowland and I've got Rainbowland then I feel that I can give it a mark of sorts.

REVIEW
This is a good album. Not a classic by any means but very good for a first album. It's speed metal which bascially is what Seventh Avenue are all about. For a first album though, you can tell that Seventh Avenue are by no means novices! It's good to know that even the worst Seventh Avenue album is better than most other albums I can think of. The song called "Children" is a great ballad track with lots of passion and that turned into their single which they released the same year.
