Jujube Tea: Please don't mix with other ingredients till you get used to jujube's flavor.
There are three different types of jujube: the round jujube is best to eat it raw, the oval one is great for tea, date, or wine, and the baby jujube is super in tea. I like to mix varieties for my tea, but if one wishes sweetish brew. Use oval and baby jujubes(when the color changes to brown).
Many people prefer round jujube because it's easier to swallow. Oval jujube is drier and less favorable, but I love to eat all three. Use 2 cups of water if you like it more concentrated, astringent, and sweet. I do this when I drink it at night or couldn't sleep at night. If I want to drink as a tea for relaxation, I use 4 cups of water with 1 filled cup of jujubes.
If you grow jujube trees at home, don't put the tree in the ground. It spreads outward to 20 feet. Use the largest container for your jujube tree to contain it from devouring your garden. The baby jujube tree will develop too quickly to maintain. This is the best one to have it in a pot. What's terrific about growing this tree? It doesn't require a lot of water. I live in California, and this is important to me. Do trim it often, preventing jujube tree to ascend, blocking the sun from other vegetable or plants.
I have tried to buy jujubes in a market. I'm stupefied! It's so tasteless to my homegrown one. Believe me, jujube tree produces fruit substantially than you could ever imagine. That was my reasoning for making chips, dates, and wine after I already gave it away to families and friends.
For many people who are in a holistic approach, accepting jujubes have great benefits. For personal experiences, I noticed jujube helps with relaxation, sleeping, anxiety, and a high-fiber fruit. Too much of fresh jujube fruit will knock me off my feet!
Do give jujubes a shot. If you wanted to dry the jujube, follow my method from my mulberry podcast or recipe. I left those jujubes out the sun for a week. Do leave comments on my youtube channel of your experiences with jujubes, questions, or suggestions. Enjoy!
