The highway select link process is controlled by a checkbox to enable the select link and a text box with the specified links. Links are specified by the A-Node and B-Node of the link, separated by a horizontal dash. To select trips using this link in both directions, an asterisk may be added. Use comma " , " to seperate links if more than link is selected.
Note that if no highway select link is needed, one can uncheck the checkbox but needs to put text in the text box to ensure no error message pops up. One can leave the default text in the text box when unchecking the Run Highway Select-Link option.

When select link is enabled, demand traversing links represented by the node sequence in the edit box are captured and stored in:
- Volume groups 11 through 20 will be populated in the time of day (TOD) loaded network files in the _cube folder of the scenario. See the LoadedNet_TOD dictionary under Highway Networks and Skims for detail of each volume group.
- The highway select link process also produces a TAZ-TAZ trip table of trips utilizing the selected link(s). These files are named "tper_SELLINK_altyear.MAT” where tper is the time period (EA, AM, MD, PM, EV) and altyear are the Scenario Alternative Code ID letter and alternative year.
- Finally, a traveler characteristics report highway_sl_scenario.xlsx is generated in the _reports folder that summarizes the trip, person, and household characteristics of the trips by auto between the OD pairs identified through the select link. Note that the traveler characteristics are summarized from the trip roster and that trips do not necessarily all utilize the same path. The summaries are weighted by the ratio of trips in the trip roster and trips in the trip table, but are not as accurate as a fully disaggregated assignment.
A select link analysis could be to map and display the trips that utilize a given roadway segment using the Cube Analysis-Multi Bandwidth plot and identifying the select link user classes.

The transit select link process is controlled by a radio button to indicate the type of transit select link and an edit box to enter the select link parameters. The select link types are as follows:
- None type (default) produces no transit select link outputs. Users have to put “REPLACE” in the text box if selecting “None”.
- Mode type supports select link by transit mode. The transit mode number(s) are entered into the text box. Multiple mode selections need to be separated by commas (e.g. 11,12) or can be selected with a dash (e.g. 21-24). The dictionary of transit modes is available here.
- Operator type supports select link by transit operator. The transit operator number(s) are entered into the text box. Multiple operator selections need to be separated by commas (e.g. 11,12) or can be selected with a dash (e.g. 21-24). The dictionary of transit operators is available here.
- Line type supports select link by individual transit line or route. The transit line identifier is declared in the transit line file as LINENAME. Typically one needs to identify the line name in the transit line file and copy the line names with quote to the catalog’s text box. See example of specifying Kendall bus line in Miami-Dade below.
- Freeform type allows the user to specify the entire transit select link expression. Cube supports a combined select link (e.g. Mode and Operator). Please see the Cube documentation for Public Transport Program > Processes > Select link > Select-link functions for details on how to formulate a select link expression. Note that the entire expression must be specified for Freeform, including the equals sign, unlike the other types that only require the identifier. The example of selecting all transit trips going through particular link(s) is shown below. Note we need to include the "L=" part in front of the link identifier.

When select link is enabled, demand traversing links/mode/line specified in the edit box are captured and stored in:
- TAP-TAP trip tables are produced for each transit time period (AM, PM, OP) and the nine transit modes. These trip tables are stored in the _cube folder of the model scenario and are named “SELLINK_tper_transitmode.MAT”.
- A traveler characteristics report transit_sl_scenario.xlsx is generated in the _reports folder that summarizes the trip, person, and household characteristics of the trips by transit between the OD pairs identified through the select link. Note that the traveler characteristics are summarized from the trip roster and that trips do not necessarily all utilize the same path. The summaries are weighted by the ratio of trips in the trip roster and trips in the trip table, but are not as accurate as a fully disaggregate assignment.
