Current Event Article
What to Do:
• Find an article on a scientific topic that involves issues on sustainability and is five (5) paragraphs or longer: Articles can be taken from websites, magazines (Bookman's has them cheap and you can cut them up) and newspapers. They should not be more than 6 months old. The library is a great source for all of these and its free. Keep in mind, there is also the university libraries across the street as a great resource. Some Websites for current event articles can be found under science-> Media->periodicals Check under Science Websites for a list of sources as well.
• Neatly cut out, print, photocopy, or copy article. Staple or glue the articles to the back of your summary and critique. You may also paste it into word, highlight it and then email it with your write up.
• Read the article - highlight pertinent facts.
You then have the following option. You may follow the information below or fill out the form attached below.
• Write a two or more paragraph summary; answering the questions who, what, where, why and how. Do not forget to credit your source.
• Write a two or more paragraph evaluation discussing why the topic is important in general to science, your general reaction to what the article had to say, how does this tie into Astronomy, how factual is the article (in other words, is it trustworthy and why).
• Come up with two questions for discussion with the class/group.
• Present to the class your article and be prepared for a discussion.

Assignments that are incomplete or not done properly will be returned to be corrected. This grade is an all or nothing.
