264. Solomon D. Schoonover (Christopher (Stoffel) Krom, Rebekka Van Schoonhoven, Niclaes, Hendrick Claessen, Claes Hendrickse, Hendrich1 Van Schoonhoven) died presumably before 1820.
Jay Schoonover 16 March 2025: "History of Bradford County, Pennsylvania with Biographical Sketches" by H. C. Bradsby, 1891 contains the following account:
"Christopher Schoonover, more commonly known by his Dutch name, Stoffle, came as early as 1792 from the Delaware river, where he lived in the same neighborhood with James Quick. Schoonover had cleared a few acres on the flats, the upland being covered with timber. His house was on the bank of the river below the Wilsons. It was of logs, and covered with bark or spalts. He moved up the river into the township of Litchfield, and Cornelius Quick bought his possession, who sold to James Anderson, and he in turn to the Wilsons. Schoonover had two sons, Joseph and Solomon, and two daughters. "
This is really the only documentation that I've found in support of Christopher having a son named Solomon. I do believe that this person is likely the Solomon D. Schoonover found in the 1820 census of Conewango, Warren County, PA. He falls within the age group of Christopher's two eldest sons, and he was listed in Conewango Township in which "Chris Scoonover" [sic] was enumerated in the 1810 Census of Warren County PA.
Children of Solomon and ?
559.8. i. Elijah Schoonover born 1814 in Pennsylvania d 1880 in Mason County, Texas from a thorn infection to his hand.
559.9 ii. Melvina Schoonover born ca. 1819. Married July 29, 1839 in Clark County, Missouri to William Williams.
Jay Schoonover 16 March 2025: As Don Green and Tony Schoonover wrote in their 2009 work "From New York to Texas: The Schoonover Family Frontier Saga":
"The evidence is circumstantial, but persuasive, that Elias [Elijah] "Eli" and Melvina were children of Solomon. They were too young to be the children of Christopher and Jane . . . Both Elias and Melvina fall within the age group of the male and female children in Solomon's family in the Census of 1820 (under 10). Christopher must have taken them into his household after the death of their father . . . Solomon no longer shows up in the Census after 1820. Both moved with the family of Benjamin Schoonover, brother of Solomon, down the Ohio River. Both were too old to be children of Benjamin, who married Elizabeth Wheeler in 1824. "Eli" married Louisa Jane Fulgham, the divorced wife of Isaac Schoonover, a son of Benjamin, and named his first, and only, son, "Solomon," presumably after his father. Melvina married William Williams, during the Schoonover Family's long move to Texas. At the time both the Williams's and the Benjamin Schoonover's were living in adjacent households in Illinois."
266. Isaac Decker Schoonover (Christopher (Stoffel) Krom, Rebekka Van Schoonhoven, Niclaes, Hendrick Claessen, Claes Hendrickse, Hendrich1 Van Schoonhoven) was born Abt 1797 PA, and died Aft 1852. He married Eliza Correll December 25, 1821 in Scioto County, OH.

267. Edward Benjamin Schoonover (Christopher (Stoffel) Krom, Rebekka Van Schoonhoven, Niclaes, Hendrick Claessen, Claes Hendrickse, Hendrich1 Van Schoonhoven) was born 1803 in Penn. Died April 23, 1868, Perry, TX murdered by the Ku Klux Klan along with his son George (see here You'll likely need to "open image in new tab" and enlarge it). He married Elizabeth Wheeler March 13, 1824, daughter of Isaac Wheeler.
Jay Schoonover: Descendant Don Green wrote this to me on December 8, 2024 and I'm adding it here with his permission:
"Our gr gr grandmother Elizabeth Wheeler Schoonover, wife of Edward Benjamin Schoonover, was part Oneida, maybe half, and her mother Eleanor Johnson Wheeler may have been full blood Oneida. This was first brought to my attention a few years ago when I came across the story of gr gr gr grandfather Isaac Wheeler and his friend, Anthony Vanderpool. They lived in Columbia County, NY, I believe. In the 1790s, Vanderpool married an Oneida girl and his family disowned him. Isaac, his friend & our soon to be ancestor, married the Oneida girl’s sister. The two families left New York together and landed in Bradford County, Pennsylvania where they met the family of our Christopher Schoonover. Christopher and Isaac became good friends and both families moved together to Scioto County, Ohio, where Christopher’s son, Benjamin, married Isaac’s daughter, Elizabeth. Incidentally, the Oneida were the only one of the Iroquois Nations to side with our Patriots. The other 5 Nations allied with the British. Incidentally, a few years ago when I had my mtDNA done, I discovered that I do have some North American Indian blood."

Orange Pemberton Warner, had previously removed westward and was employed for some years as a mail clerk on the Chicago & Northwestern railway. He served as a soldier of the Civil war. Eventually he settled in Grant County, Nebraska, where he successfully engaged in the practice of law and was also prominent in county affairs. Around October 1890, he moved from Whitman to his ranch in Hyannis, Nebraska and continued offering services as Grant County Attorney. Hyannis is about 1 1/2 miles west of Whitman.
Resource: Copied from the Hunt Co History Book, "Grant County--Its Friends and Neighbors". O. P. Warner was the first Postmaster of the newly established US Postoffice in Whitman, Grant Co., Nebraska on September 5, 1887.Directory-County Officers- lists O. P. Warner, Attorney Newspaper item extract: O. P. Warner, PCC, owing to his increasing and extensive law practice and the irregularity of the suburban trains concluded to move his residence and office uptown on Poplar Street. The counselor will immediately commence the erection of a handsome 8x10 addition to his office in the latest design of architecture, Queen Anne style. Another Newspaper extract: Mr. O. P. Warner was in town Wednesday. Mr W. gives it out that he is half owner in a printing press. Mr W. conceives that the power of the press is irrepressible, and that with himself at the business end of it, it would be irresistible. Yet another article referred to Old Peanuts Warner came up to "make a little medicine" over the convention. At the residence of Mr & Mrs Gus Buchfinck, on Sunday July 31,1892 at 12, the Rev. Olmstead officiating, O P Warner and Isabella M. Whiton, both of this county, were married..........Mr & Mrs Warner went immediately to housekeeping and are now at home to their friends on their ranch, one mile and a half west of Whitman. Notice placed in newspaper by O P Warner: I hereby give notice, that my wife, Isabella M. Warner, did on the 11th day of Nov., 1892, leave my bed and board, without just cause or provocation, and that I will not be responsible for any debts or contracts she may make after said date.
"Grandma Belkaap's brother. Nickname "Peanut". He was a lawyer. He had an opium habit. He was taken prisoner in the Civil War and laid out in the swamps. he was later found by the Union men who put him in a Vetran's Hospital. He had the "shakes" from being so cold, so they gave him opium and he got the habit from that." (by Floyd Bryan Davis)
