The mind can strongly affect physical health and by understanding how we can influence our thought processes we can improve our physical and mental health.
Students should be able to:
Explain how negative thinking can affect our mental and physical health. When people experience stress they show
Increased heart rate
Higher blood sugar
Immune suppression
These factors increase the chance for illness, coronary heart disease and increased risk of mortality.
Identify negative thing styles.
Explain how random acts of kindness and gratitude can positively influence our emotional state, making us happier and healthier.
