Associate Lecturer and Research Associate in the School of Psychology, University of Adelaide
Dr Due talked firstly about the UNHCR statistics regarding refugees.
45.2 million people are forcibly displaced each year
15.4 million are considered refugees and 46% of these people are under the age of 18.
Australia accepts approximately 13 000 refugees each year.
Research focus is on wellbeing in young children and how to measure this in refugee children who have experienced varying levels of trauma.

Keynote Speaker 2: New Developments in Applied Sleep Research
Associate Professor Jill Dorrian
Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology, Social Work and Social Policy, University of South Australia
Profession Dorrian talked about a myriad of research studies being conducted in UniSA's state of the art Sleep lab, focussing on the links between Sleep deprivation and illnesses faced in society. Her team are also currently researching links between genetic markers and the tendency to become more or less affected by sleep deprivation and shift work.

Healthy Minds topic using the movie 'Silver Linings Playbook' and comic strips: Brad Sawyer
Brad talked through a variety of ways to use comic easily accessible online to generate class discussion about depression and anxiety in the Healthy Minds topic. He discussed various strategies for introducing the four levels of explanation using these cartoons. His PowerPoint presentation contains several weblinks for finding suitable comics.
He also demonstrated strategies for unpacking the issues associated with Mental Health using the film "Silver Linings Playbook'.
