A P.E.A.R.L.S. New Year Resolution:
This year, I will live in and walk in PURPOSE. I realize that God created me with a divine purpose and He has a plan for me (Jer. 29:11). I will live so that my words, actions, and thoughts are representative of Him (I Cor. 6:20). I will pattern my life so that others may see His love and righteousness shine through me. Because I was created with a purpose, I will only involve myself in positive activities that are holy and wholesome. I know that the decisions that I make now can affect the rest of my life.
I will walk in PURITY: spiritually and physically. My body is the temple of God (I Cor. 3:16-17). As a Christian, God dwells inside of me. I will not take anything into my body that will defile God’s space. Because I have the power to speak things into existence that can defile, I will also watch what comes out of my mouth (Mark 7:15-23).
This year, I will walk in EXCELLENCE. I will strive to do my best in everything that I attempt. Because I know that a good education is the key to a bright future, I will work hard at school by doing my homework, studying hard for tests, paying attention in class, completing all of my assignments, and being the best student that I can be. I will carry myself in a way that is excellent, completing every task that is given to me because it glorifies God (Dan. 5:12; Eccl. 9:10; Col. 3:23).
I will make sure that my ATTITUDE represents Jesus Christ. I will have an attitude of gratitude, thankful for my family and all that God has provided in my life. I will respect my parents and all others that are in authority over me (Eph. 6:1; Col. 6:20). I will be respectful of others, mindful to treat others the way that I would like to be treated (Matt. 7:12). I will be sure that my speech represents Jesus Christ (I Cor. 15:33; Jas 3:10).
I will live a life of RIGHTEOUSNESS that is based on the Bible, which is the Word of God. Righteousness is not just about doing the right things, but also about having the right attitude towards God and having a relationship with Him (James 4:8; Heb. 11:7). I know that I became the righteous before God when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior (2 Cor. 5:21)
I will walk in LOVE because the Bible says that regardless of how beautiful, smart, or talented I am, if I do not have a loving attitude towards people, everything else is meaningless (I Cor. 13). Jesus told us that people will know that I belong to Him because of my love (Jn 13:35).
I am a LEADER and not a follower. I set the curve because my standards for myself are high. I expect to be successful in all that I undertake because I work hard, complete what I started, and do my part. I can do all things through Christ (Phil. 4:13)
I will walk in SERVICE because it is the rent I pay for living on this earth. Service to my fellow man and woman is both noble and my Christian duty. Jesus told us that in order to be great, you have to first be a servant (Mk 10:43-45).
