Warm Up & Cool Down
Warm up should be performed before your work out or take part in more intense physical activity.
Cool down should be performed after your work out or intense physical activity.
A Good Warm Up Includes:
1. Cardiovascular Activity:Starting slowly and gradually increasing intensity
examples: walking, jogging, skipping, jumping rope, etc.
2. Muscular Activity: Could be exercises or skill related.
examples: push ups, sit ups, stretch bands, lay ins, playing catch
3. Flexibility Exercises:
Stretching for 10-30 seconds each muscle group
A Good Cool Down Includes:
1. Slowing Down Activity:
Slow jog, walking, something slower paced
2. Flexibility Exercises:
Stretching for 10-30 seconds each muscle group
Why is Warm Up & Cool Down Important?
1. Prevents injuries
2. Prepares the body for more strenuous activity
3. Gradually increases heart rate in warm up and gradually decreases heart rate in cool down.
4. Helps prevent or decrease muscle soreness
