Walking home the long way

Most every time I walk home the long way, I end up with a beautiful sunset. This time was no exception!

I was privileged to have my photograph "Boston Sunrise 2006" used for the cover of the 11/28/2015 neighborhood publication "Boston City Paper". Love having more folks able to see my work! The photo is for sale at Etsy. To the right you can see how it looked on the cover of Boston City Paper.

Archiscapes? Some mentoring comments made to me by visitors at Cambridge Open Studios made me think long and hard about what my photography strong points are. Two words come through clearly: architecture and landscapes. These are genres which are inextricable in my mind. Looking at the work I've shared over time, it certainly falls soundly into those two areas.

So it's time to bring some coherence to what I do, and focus, as it were, on what's clearly important to me.

So keep Archiscapes.US in mind, as it's look will probably change and diverge from, and for now, I leave you with an architectural landscape :-)

Great weekend at 2015 Cambridge Open Studios!

posted May 3, 2015, 4:01 PM by Ron Hoffmann   [ updated May 23, 2015, 11:36 AM ]

Had a great time at Open Studios this past weekend. The venue was always busy, with many folks to talk to who wanted to see and purchase art.

Over a dozen pieces sold, including a number of the ones pictured here.

Many thanks to all the friends, and new friends who came by to make it a fun event. I learned a lot and am already looking forward to 2016!

Crack patterns in the ice on Walden Pond, Concord, MA USA

I braved the 17F temperatures for a walk around Walden Pond in Concord, MA. Of course I had a camera with me.

I was obsessed with the patterns in the developing ice on the pond, and with reflections of the tree line in the remaining water.

One example of the patterns is shown here in this black and white rendition of the scene.

Kirkland, WA

Out in Washington for my day job, but couldn't resist a little photography on a time-available basis.

On the one of a couple of days of clear weather, I snagged this lovely sunset photo from the docks at Marina Park.

The days were so short there, even shorter than in the Boston area.

This was the first outing for a new acquistion: a Canon S100 camera. A sweet little number, the size of a tiny point-and-shoot, but with manual modes and RAW capture. I'm enjoying it a lot!
