If requested, we can video conference with multiple off-site participants. We use Google+ "hangouts" or Skype for video conferencing. Request a video conference by email (A.M.Jones @ liverpool.ac.uk) or telephone (+44 (0) 151 794 4837).
To participate in a Skype video chat, you will need to send us your Skype name, accept our contact request, and answer when we initiate the Skype conference call. It would be prudent to also send us an email or telephone number at which we can reach you if we have trouble connect to you. See more details at https://www.skype.com/en/features/group-video-chat/.
To participate via Google, you'll need Gmail and Google+ accounts. If you don't have a Gmail account, it's easy, fast, anonymous and free to make one by clicking create a new Gmail account and following the instructions there. If you have a Gmail account but haven't signed up for Google+ yet, you can do so by clicking create Google+ account and following its instructions. You have to specify a birthday and gender, but you don't have to specify your birthday and gender. Once you have a Google+ account, you can go to it by clicking https://plus.google.com/. Click on the Hangout icon on the sidebar on the left side of the Google+ screen. If you don't see the Hangout icon, it might only be accessible by clicking first on the "... More" icon which is at the bottom of the left side of the Google+ screen. The first time you access a Google+ hangout on a new computer, Google+ may need to download some software to enable your machine to handle video chatting. After it has done this, you should see several "hangouts" to join. When the meeting starts, we will invite you to the hangout using your email address. You may see a message that says "Scott Ferson is hanging out". Just click the "Hangout" button on that option, and then the "Join" button to join the video conference.
Your name, email, telephone number, Skype address and other identifying information are handled in accordance with the GDPR. We will generally destroy your information within one year after effecting the connections that you specifically request unless you ask us to retain it for possible future interactions.
Note that posted start times are British Time (i.e., GMT or UTC most of the year, but BST or UTC+1 in the summer). However, we sometimes start a little late. Ha ha ha. Sometimes.
