Thinkovers are short intense sessions at which a presenter poses a problem to students and staff at the Institute for Risk and Uncertainty who think over the problem and collectively work on a solution interactively with the presenter. Thinkovers are commonly held with catering at the Institute's Seminar Room in the Chadwick Building at the University of Liverpool (directions). They are usually scheduled for two-hour blocks, with the initial presentation in the first half hour. We use Slack to facilitate interactions during and after the thinkover. Our final solutions are often published on Github.
You can find titles and descriptions for upcoming and past thinkovers at this website (see the list on the left of the screen). Announcements of upcoming events are also made on Twitter at @riskcdt. If you would like to receive announcements by email, please send a specific request to info@riskinstitute.uk; our handling of your email address and personal information is governed by the GDPR. See also the Institute's calendar and the seminar room scheduling calendar. Here is your own Google calendar.
If you cannot attend a thinkover in person, we can sometimes arrange for video conferencing via Zoom, Google or Skype. Please contact the organiser at least two days before the event to arrange this. Recordings of the events are generally not available.
If you would like to organise a thinkover in this series, please feel free to contact us to arrange it. This series is related to the Imprecise Tuesday lecture series. Thinkovers are the brainchild of James Butterworth.
