Terje Aven, Ph.D., University of Stavanger, Norway
Professor Terje Aven will in this talk reflect on how to conceptualise, represent and describe epistemic uncertainties in a risk analysis context. Aven will focus his discussion on the probability concept, both precise and imprecise, and the knowledge supporting the probability judgments. Also related management issues, ensuring decision makers and other stakeholders are adequately informed, will be addressed.
Speaker biosketch
Terje Aven, Ph.D., is Professor of Risk Analysis and Risk
Science at the University of Stavanger, Norway. He has many years of experience as an industry risk analyst and is the author of many books and papers in the field. His research covers a broad range of topics within risk analysis and risk science, in particular on foundational issues related to risk and uncertainty assessment and characterization. He is past President of Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) and the European Safety and Reliability Association (ESRA). He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Risk and Reliability and area editor of Risk Analysis.
