Diamond Cloth

Materials: 1 skein each of light and dark Sugar 'n Cream cotton, size H crochet hook or size to obtain gauge, tapestry needle to weave in ends. Model uses sunshine (color 69622) and classic navy (color 69110). Piece weighs under 1.7 oz.

Gauge- Approximate size is 9" square. Gauge is not important for this pattern.

With light color, ch 32

Row 1-(WS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 ch, bsc in next 3 ch, sc in next 4 ch, bsc in next 3 ch, sc in next 5 ch, bsc in next 3 ch, sc in next 4 ch, bsc in next 3 ch, sc in last 3 ch. 31 sts. Ch 1 and turn on this row and all rows through row 35

Row 2-Bsc in next 3 sts, sc in next 3 sts, bsc in next 4 sts, sc in next 3 sts, bsc in next 5 sts, sc in next 3 sts, bsc in next 4 sts, sc in next 3 sts, bsc in last 3 sts, changing to dark color with the last lp of the final bsc of row. Prepare to cover light color with new (dark( working color as in directions of Getting Started page.

Row 3-With dark color, repeat row 2, but work first bsc of row over dropped (light) color as in directions.

Row 4-Sc in first 3 sts, bsc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 sts, bsc in next 3 sts, sc in next 5 sts, bsc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 sts, bsc in next 3 sts, sc in last 3 sts, picking up dropped light color with last lp of final sc of row. Prepare to cover dark color with first st of row 5.

Continue pattern with graph. End off light color after row 34.
