Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program

The PA Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) is administered by the Pennsylvania Farm Service Agency (FSA) on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This program exists for the purpose of preserving marginal lands once used for agriculture, to prevent any inadvertent soil erosion, a healthy soil initiative associated with improving traditional farming practices.

We currently have thirty acres enrolled as grasslands and pollinator fields in the CREP program, to provide riparian buffers that protect the watershed, increase carbon sequestration, and provide nesting habitat and food sources for those birds that nest in open grasslands.  These fields remain undisturbed from April 1 through July 31 to provide this nesting habitat.
