Youth Pheasant Hunts
For more than 25 years, the Red Rose Chapter has hosted a youth pheasant hunt. The participants are selected from nominees received from the Lancaster County Youth Field Day,
The stated goal of the youth pheasant hunt is to teach our participants about resource conservation and the effect that habitat plays in maintaining a healthy wildlife population. As participants in CREP - the Conservation Reserve Program - the Red Rose chapter of Izaak Walton is committed to the restoration and maintenance of native grasslands as wildlife habitat.
By pairing up our student hunters with members of our chapters bird dog club, we are able to pass along our hunting heritage, while emphasizing the stewardship required to conserve and maintain our natural resources for the benefit of wildlife - and our future generations.
