In a chaotic system, like a double pendulum, small changes in the initial conditions become large changes in the long-term evolution of the system, but on the short/medium term, how well we can predict the dynamics is not constant. Sometimes small perturbations will not change much, sometimes small perturbation make even short-term predictions impossible. At each frame the position of the second mass is perturbed slightly, and the grey lines show the predicted dynamics for all the perturbed conditions. - Jacopo Bertolotti

Some of the language used is philosophically problematic. Terms like 'undirected', 'random', and 'chance' are fine when making a literalistic mathematical model, but randomness and chance run no deeper than that. These terms are either placeholders for our lack of knowledge or the Hand of God. The term 'undirected' is prejudiced and question begging when conceived with the Logos.

Short geological reason why Noah's flood was not a world-wide flood responsible for all the sedimentary deposits under Mesopotamia.
Large 2-3 meter flood deposits dating to ~2900 BC at Shuruppak are also found at Kish.
Makes the sound observational conclusion that the flood was the whole of Noah's world. It was water in every direction all the way to the horizon as far as he could see.

CHAPTER 5 THE ENVIRONMENT AND LANDSCAPE ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE ABU TBEIRAH REGION by Jaafar Jotheri - There is an ancient river branch of the Euphrates that meandered west and south of Ur (pgs. 52, 55). Abu Tbeirah was covered by the sea before 6th millennium BC.
Much ado about nothing: assessing the impact of the 4.2 kya event on human subsistence patterns in northern Mesopotamia using stable isotope analysis (2021) Arkadiusz Sołtysiak and Ricardo Fernandes - cambridge.org - Antiquity, 95(383), 1145-1160 - Not finding big differences in diet that would suggest massive aridity for the end of the Akkadian or 4.2kya event contra most literature. Sample size was small and it is not clear what their control is.

Sea Level - wikipedia.org - The idea of Mean Sea Level is not as obvious as one might think.
Geoid - The actual shape of the earth rather than our idealized sphere. If the earth is considered a sphere, the deepest water in the ocean is actually several 100 meters above southern India.
If the Earth Stood Still - esri.org (pdf) - Article with images showing what the oceans would be like without the rotation of the Earth.
While a global Sea Level Rise curve might be convenient, there are actually several reasons for having separate curves for the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans as the continents largely divide these three oceans from each other and each area has unique factors at play. Some evidence for this is found in the higher than present sea-level peaks around 5000-7000 BP consistently measured in the Indo-Pacific.

Bailey, G.N., Flemming, N.C., King, G.C.P., Lambeck, K., Momber, G., Moran, L.J., Al-Sharekh, A. and Vita-Finzi, C., (2007) Coastlines, Submerged Landscapes, and Human Evolution: The Red Sea Basin and the Farasan Islands. Journal of Island and Coastal Archaeology, 2(2), 127-160. - Until relatively recently, anthropology has ignored pre-historical coastal communities because sea-level change and erosion has destroyed most of the evidence. However, these communities were most responsible for the major dispersal of humans out of (and back into) Africa, across the Bering straits to the Americas, from Asia to New Guinea and Australia, and of course all the islands on Earth. There are many complications to shoreline study besides sea-rise and erosions. The Red Sea is a tectonically very active and poorly understood area of the world. Arabian paleolithic sites are very difficult to date radiometrically and artifacts are not stratigraphically linked. Low sea levels would expose numerous fresh water springs that would likely caused a green belt along the coast of the Red Sea. Transit across the Red Sea would have been easy during lower sea levels.
Are carbonate barrier islands mobile? Insights from a mid to late‐Holocene system, Al Ruwais, northern Qatar (2019) - "Sedimentological and petrographic analyses, as well as 14C‐dating of shells and biogenic remains from vibracored sediments and surface deposits, show that after 7000 years ago a barrier system with a narrow back‐barrier lagoon formed along what is now an exposed coastal zone, while, contemporaneously, a laterally‐extensive coral reef was forming immediately offshore. After 1400 years ago the barrier system was forced to step ca 3 km seaward in response to a sea‐level fall of less than 2 m, where it re‐established itself directly on the mid‐Holocene reef."
