Ripley County Soldiers

At the beginning and for the most part of the Civil War Ripley County citizens tried to remain neutral, however circumstances resulted in most of the population having to choose sides. Undoubtedly, some Ripley County men served on both sides during the war with the largest percentage fighting for the Confederacy. This is an attempt to list all those who served and is a work in progress. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

The first organized military in Ripley County was made up men responding to the call of Governor Jackson on June 12, 1861 to form a Missouri State Guard.
