Visiting The Island

Puffin Island is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and unfortunately it is not possible for visitors to land on the island without permission from the landowner. However if you want to see the birds then the best way is to take a boat trip around the island. Boat trips operate all through the summer with three operators. All boats operate from Beaumaris (see map below).

If you are visiting Puffin Island in your own boat or canoe then PLEASE stay well back from the cliffs and try not to make too much noise as the birds are easily disturbed. You might not be able to tell, but a razorbill or shag will not return to feed its chick if you are lingering too close to its nest.
