2012 Field Season

The razorbills and gulls are hatching and the shag chicks are already big and smelly. Yes, fieldwork is well underway at Puffin Island for the 2012 season. GPS tracking, this time with dive logging and accelerometry, is progressing well with 10 birds tracked already. Razorbill tracking is also extending into a second season. We are delighted to be joined this season by Johann Bourgeois, an EU Leonardo-funded intern from France who is taking responsibility for the monitoring programme this year, among many other tasks. The other new face is Amanda Kuepfer, a Masters student from Bangor who will be working on the razorbill tracking data.
