A sea chantey, also popular among stevedores hauling timber. Originated from the clipper ships that transported wool and wheat between the Australian colonies and London.
Although this is popularly understood to have origins in Australia, there is little evidence to support this. What little material there is is from England and New York, where it was recorded as an English shanty.
