General Interest
The version we sing, also called "The Song of the Temperance Union" gently pokes fun at the absurdities of the Temperance movement in the early 20th century. It gained populrity in the 1960's when it was "rediscovered" on US college campuses, and made popular by the Chad Mitchell Trio.
