A great sea shanty, this is a West Indian halyard shanty. It is one of the best of the many 'Sally Brown' shanties. Many of the lyrics typical of this era are obscene and many would be considered racially offensive these days.

The version we sing is another made popular through the video game Assassin's Creed.
