General Interest
Originating from an 18th century Scottish folk song “Our Goodman”, it became a popular humorous song in Ireland.
Our version was recorded by the Dubliners in 1967. It tells the tale of gullible drunkard returning night after night to see new evidence of his wife's lover, only to be taken in by increasingly implausible explanations.
