Plain Endurance Runs Support Team

This site contains information for members of the Plain Endurance Runs Support Team. The goal is to provide all the information necessary to insure mission success while having a good time supporting a group of extremely skilled and motivated runners of the Plain 100 Ultramarathons at http://www.plain100.com/ . 

About the Plain Endurance Runs

The official name of this race is The Plain100+ Mile Endurance Run (David M. Smith Memorial 1953-2011) in honor of Dave, a Search and Rescue team (SAR) member who was with the race from the beginning until his death in 2011. The Plain 100 is a challenging 100+ mile ultra marathon (even by ultra standards) over trails in the mountains near Lake Wenatchee and Plain, Washington. The course contains more than 21,000 feet of elevation gain/loss with no support for the runners. The race details can be found at http://www.plain100.com/.  Starting in 2014, a Plain 100K race was added with the same checkpoints and route identical to the first loop of the 100 mile course.

About the Support Team

The support team is present to account for all the runners, call in times and render any aid necessary - for those that drop. The terrain is challenging for both the runners and communications. There are only a couple repeaters that work at all and those are not ideally located for the course. Support team members must navigate over unimproved roads and operate independently for long periods of time. The support team operates with the amateur radio callsign of N7CGA which was previously owned by Dave Smith who co-founded the support team with Steve Dazey.   Scott Honaker will be Co-Race Director alongside Tim Stroh (10 time Plain100 mile finisher) .   Scott Honaker, N7SS,  joined the support team in 2007 as a member of SCVSAR and Snohomish County Emergency Management.  Scott became logistics chief in 2014 and support team commander in 2019.
