(approx 0130-1700 Sunday)
Staffing start times will vary based on the overall pace of the race. Check with Command before staffing the first shift. Staff can generally leave shortly after the last runner has passed. If they make it this far, it's very likely they will make it to the finish. There is a 1700 Sunday cut off at the checkpoint.
The trail intersection is a 3-way intersection. Outbound runners come from the east and exit west (right to left when looking from the parking lot). Returning runners come from the north and exit east. Only runners returning from Chickamin need to be logged. Some runners may head up the trail and return before heading up the hill to Chickamin and drop. Outbound runners need not be logged (this may change at some point). It will be dark and difficult to do and may confuse the runners.
The actual checkpoint is down the hill from the trailhead about 50' at the trail intersection. Unfortunately, it's not possible to see the trail intersection from the parking lot. There is enough space to place a small table and chairs off the side of the trail and still have room for runners and motorcycles to pass. The area is surrounded by trees with a small creek nearby keeping it cool all the time. It can be very cold at night. Be sure to take some lightsticks to clearly mark the checkpoint for the runners returning at night.
There is space to park one vehicle right up against the trailhead and still allow people to pass. There is additional parking in the parking lot. There is a pit toilet right next to the trailhead.
Reaching Plain will require both power and a real antenna. Crossband repeat from the parking lot also works well.
