Pine Ridge Water Utility Society is a licensed small water utility operating in the West Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada. The Utility provides potable water to residents of the Pine Ridge subdivision and is owned and operated by the subdivision residents.
The water system at Pine Ridge Subdivision was constructed as the subdivision was developed, approximately in the late 1970s. Both were development projects of Jack Hale.
As of 2023, 30 lots have had houses built on them with about 80% of them occupied full time. There are 30 serviced connections. All are metered.
Since 2001, the water system has been owned and operated by a registered society made up of property owners from the subdivision. An elected, volunteer board of directors manages the system on behalf of all members. Various members with the skills and interests volunteer to maintain the system.
The last AGM was held on October 4th, 2022. The next AGM will be held in the fall of 2023. Details will be posted on our website (here) and sent to members by e-mail as well as in regular communications.
Pine Ridge has started working on the FireSmart initiative and has been carrying out the initial plan that was developed for 2019. We have received some grants based on community work done and several projects have been completed. More to come. Plans are always being prepared and revised for work that we can do once spring arrives.
