Estimate errors from what was done with a measurement
Two methods are used to express error.
Percent error
%err = {(measured value – accepted value)/(accepted value)}X 100
The usefulness of this equation for scientific purposes is questionable, but for use in this course it is acceptable, since we will not be discovering any thing new.
Percent difference
%diff = {(difference in measurements)/(average measurement)}X100
This equation can be used to compare the precision of two measurements.
