• We have worked with the following two equations.

• Now we will develop some new useful equations.

• The equations of concern to you are the ones in the rectangular boxes. Memorize these!
• The choice of equation depends upon the information in the problem.
• When doing problems, use the four step method outlined previously.
• Define variables
• From the variables, pick an equation to use which matches the variables.
• Substitute (including units)
• State the answer (including units).
• This four step method is vital to being able to pick the correct equation to use.
• If in the step where you are to pick an equation to use, if all the equations have two or more variables that are unknown, this tells you that you must use a second equation to find one of those two or more unknown variables.
